Day 0: ARRIVAL AT ENTEBBE AIRPORT

Meet and greet by your drive/guide, transfer to you accommodation.

 

Overnight in Entebbe

 

Day 1: BIRDING MABAMBA SWAMP

After breakfast, we will head out to Mabamba Swamp on the shores of Lake Victoria. This is one of the few remaining swamps in the country protected by the local communities. This papyrus swamp with a labyrinth of channels and lagoons is the home to several pairs of Shoebills, Uganda's most famous avian resident. The charismatic monotypic species is certainly among the most sought birds in Africa. We will be on its lookout by paddling through the channels by boat. There will of course be a good selection of classic East African water birds to observe along the way, like the Pink-backed Pelican, Long-tailed Cormorant, Squacco Heron, etc.

Day 2: ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY

 

Today we will drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

After checking in and  having lunch, we will continue to track the Rhino after birding your way back as your looking, Western Banded Snak-Eagle, Lizard Buzzard, Blue-naped Mousebird,etc.

Day 3: ROYAL MILE AND BUDONGO FOREST RESERVE

We proceed early to the Royal Mile. Birding around the vicinity and the road, look out for Spotted Morning Thrush, Red-faced Crombec, and others.

Day 4: BIRD MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast, we proceed for a game/bird drive getting back in time for lunch. After lunch, transfer to northern bank of the Nile for a boat trip up to the bottom of the fall. It's possible to view hundreds of hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird life. Look out of birds like Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Black-billed Barbet and others. Look out for mammals like the Graceful Roth-child Giraffe, Uganda Kob, Defassa Waterbuck, Buffaloes, Elephants, Warthog, Oribi and  when lucky a Leopard, Lion ...

Day 5: DRIVING-DAY TO KIBALE FOREST

Travel via the Escarpment, bird all the way to Kibale. The driving will take about 8 hours.

Day 6: BIRDING KIBALE FOREST

After breakfast, we proceed to the vicinity of Kanyachu, look out for Green-breasted Pitta and other birds like the Yellow-billed Barbet, African Emerald Cuckoo, Black-billed Turaco etc. Also be on the lookout for primates, like the Red Colobus, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Black-and-white Colobus. After lunch continue to Bigodi Swamp for more birding before returning to Lodge.

Day 7: BIRDING SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast we proceed to Semliki Valley National Park for an afternoon nature walk in the park. Enjoy more birding, the Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill, Crowned Hornbill and Black Dwarf Hornbill etc

Day 8: BIRDING SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK

Repeat the nature walk/birding activity in the morning. This is another opportunity to be on the lookout for the Shoebill in Semuliki - Toro Game Reserve.

Day 9: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONL PARK

Transfer from Semliki to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park has a mosaic of habitat from moist forest to wild savannah excellent for lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, Uganda Kobs, baboons, warthogs and many others. Look out for Widowbirds, Starlings, Kingfishers, etc.

In the afternoon enjoy the boattrip on Kazinga Channel with a view of a variety of wildlife, hundreds of hippos, crocodiles and different birdlife. Look out for birds like Pelican, Green-backed Heron, Stork, African Spoonbill, Yellow-throated Longclaw, etc.

Day 10: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK - BUHOMA

With an early morning we set off with a packed breakfast to Maramagambo area around the Lake Nyamisingire. Lookout for the Black Bee-eater, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Snowy-headed Robin-Chat, etc.

Day 11: BIRD TO BWINDI - BUHOMA SECTOR

After breakfast, with a packed lunch, bird your way into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. This rainforest offers arguably the most productive Montana forest birding in Africa and supports 23 of Uganda's 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species. Once part of a much larger forest that included the Volcanoes in neighbouring Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable is now an ecological island within a sea of human cultivation and is of immense conservation importance. Lookout species like Bee-eaters, Barbets, Tinkerbirds, Woodpeckers and others.

Day 12: BWINDI - NKURINGO

With an early breakfast and a packed lunch you walk with a guide through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. A 22km-walk to Nkuringo following the Kashasha river trail and Buhoma trail. This walk is a must-do for the birding enthusiast. Look out for Black Bee-eater, Eastern Green Tinkerbird, Bar-tailed Trogon and others.

Day 13: BIRDING RUSHAGA SECTOR

Today we proceed to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, following the waterfall trail within the park. This is a prime birding spot in a gorgeous swathe primary forest. Look out for the Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Banded Prinia, Regal Sunbird, Short-tailed Warbler, all part of Albertine rift valley endemic.

Day 14: BIRD TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast bird your way to Lake Mburo National Park. This park has varied habitats from open Acacia woodlands to number of papyrus-lined lakes and swamps. Continue exploring Lake Mburo and be on the lookout for birds like Crested Francolin, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Blue-napped Mousebird and others.

Day 15: BIRDING LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy the whole day birding on Lake Mburo, in search for Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, African Grey Hornbill, etc.  Also be on lookout for wildlife like the eland, zebra, topi, Oribi, hippos and others

Day 16: TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE AND DEPARTURE

Bird your way back to Entebbe arriving in the late afternoon. Search for the Golden-backed Weaver, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, etc.
